HelpNDoc's Topic Editor includes AutoCorrect features that can automatically correct common typing mistakes and replace text shortcuts while you type. AutoCorrect applies configured corrections immediately, helping you write content faster and with fewer repetitive corrections. AutoCorrect can:

  • Capitalize sentences automatically by changing the first letter of the first word of a sentence to uppercase. HelpNDoc uses configurable sentence-ending characters and sentence-boundary punctuation to determine when a new sentence begins.
  • Correct two initial capital letters when a word is accidentally typed with two uppercase letters at the beginning. For example, HElp can automatically become Help. An exceptions list can be used for words and abbreviations such as IDs that intentionally use this capitalization.
  • Replace text as you type using configurable shortcuts. For example, you can define HND to be replaced with HelpNDoc. Replacements can also be used for symbols, emoticons, arrows, common corrections, and other frequently entered content. HelpNDoc includes several predefined replacements, and both built-in and custom entries can be edited or removed. Replacements are applied when a delimiter is typed after the shortcut.

AutoCorrect is enabled by default and can be configured globally to match your writing conventions and terminology.
