Generate Word documentation
Word documentation is generated as a DocX file, providing a structured, editable document that can be opened in Microsoft Word or compatible word processors. It is well-suited for creating printable manuals, detailed reports, or documents that require further editing or review.
HelpNDoc can generate Word documentation in the DocX format directly from your project. It can also optionally generate RTF files if the Generate RTF format documentation setting is enabled. The generation process can be performed quickly using the default settings, or with advanced configuration options through the documentation generation dialog.
Quick Word generation
To quickly generate Word documentation using the current project settings:
- Go to the Home ribbon tab.
- Click the bottom part of the Generate Help button.
- Select Word Documentation from the available output formats.
This will immediately create a DocX file using the predefined settings for the project.
Advanced generation options
If you need more control over the Word output:
- Go to the Home ribbon tab.
- Click the top part of the Generate Help button.
- In the Generate Documentation dialog, make sure that Build Word Documentation is checked in the build list.
From here, you can adjust generation settings such as output location, template, or options specific to the Word format. See: Customize Word documentation settings
Document signing and encryption
Generated Word DocX files can also be optionally digitally signed and encrypted. This provides additional security by ensuring document authenticity and restricting unauthorized access.
